I make Anastasia lunch for school at random. Typically I give her the choice if she wants to buy the school lunch or if she wants me to make it. The school she goes to has pretty good lunches according to my daughter, so I take her word when she tells me she wants to buy the hot lunch at school.
She has been wanting me to make her lunch the most part of this week. Yesterday she wanted to buy hot lunch although she told me she wanted me to make her a lunch today. Cool, I have no issues with making lunch for her. That is, if she would remember to bring it.
At least 4 of the last 5 times I have made her lunch she has forgotten it at home. Luckily I normally have credit with the lunch lady, so she can just buy, no issues.
I just can’t figure out if she wants me to make it, why does she always forget it. She even packs it, gets her snack out, gets her drink out and when I come home I find it on the counter. Today I even asked her if she had her lunch, she told me she did. Nope, on the counter…
I know she would tell me if she didn’t want me to make it, cause normally we decide together whether I am making lunch or she is buying.
Oh well…I have lunch for later.. ;)
This is the best I had all week! Today, my daughter comes home, she forgot her lunch box at school again. Not a big deal, I tell her she is grounded until the lunch box comes home. Which equates to being grounded tonight, then tomorrow if she brings the lunch box home, she is good to go. That’s not my favorite though.
So she is doing her homework, she gets done and brings it up to my desk. We go over it together. The last math problem she has is this:
1,000 meters = 1kilometer
Tom and Isaac walked 2 and 1/2 kilometers along a hiking trail. How many meters did they walk?
Her answer, 2000 and 1/2.
I tried very hard not to fall out of my chair laughing. I corrected her and explained how to figure it out.
Simple moments in time like these is where we can really find joy in being parents.
This morning we woke up to dark clouds and rain. And although that sounds, feels or looks gloomy to most, it’s a nice change. In Arizona, I’m told, we have a monsoon season that starts in August and, I think, ends sometime mid September. That’s way better than Las Vegas where the summers were hot, sunny and hot.
My daughter was in a pretty good mood this morning although she didn’t like getting wet walking to the bus stop.
Oh, she still didn’t find her library book. I told her the money to pay for the lost book will need to come out of her allowance. I am normally very spoiling, and yes, she is definitely daddy’s little girl. Although I need to teach her a lesson here. She knows she lost it and her room is not that big. Nor is it really that messy.
Any way, at least I know I taught her responsibility because she just looked at me and said ok. She doesn’t like it, although she took the responsibility for it. And that’s a HUGE leap forward from a year ago. I will write about that later though.
My daughter forgot her library book today. She decided to call me from school and let me know she forgot it last week and this week also. I am on the phone with her searching her room and she is directing me to where she *thinks* it is. Then she tells me to look in her closet. I opened the door and a bunch of things fell, she has clothes, papers, toys and stuffed animals thrown in there. No wonder her room looked so clean yesterday. Guess I need to start checking the closet.
Any way, back to the book. I didn’t find it. She told me she would look for it when she gets home. Umm, YEAH. And clean out your closet, room and put all this stuff that fell out away. I didn’t tell her that though, I could tell she was already upset she couldn’t find her book. I didn’t want her day starting out thinking I was mad at her too.
Oh well, I know what chores she will have when she gets home!
