Anastasia got off the bus today with gum in her hair. Not cool.

Turns out, most of the kids on the bus like to make fun of her and few of her friends.

Today they were pouring water on her, throwing food at her and ultimately put gum in her hair.

If course she got off the bus crying and ran home. And as soon as she got there I ran to the bus, had the bus driver come outside and explain to me how this happened on his bus.

His response, “I drive the bus, that’s what MY job is.”

Of course this did not sit well with me. I called the bus dispatch and ultimately the director in charge of the busses for this area.

Oh, and yes, I was hot!

I am waiting to hear back from
the director and find out what she is going to do about this, because this is an every day occurance on this bus and it has to be stopped.

The school is K through 8, so there is already enough issues with control and the kids not mixing well, then add a non-attentive bus driver and all he’ll breaks lose every day.

I got enough emotions going on, I sure don’t need Anastasia having a horrible days also.

Oh, and by the way, Canola Oil works wonders for getting gum out of hair. Thanks to my sister for figuring that one out.

I have been growing out my hair for a while now. I have always had a military haircut. Very short on the sides and short on top. More of a habit from the 9 years of military and not having to fuss with anything other than long hair.

I decided to grow my hair out a few months ago, and I have been letting the top grow. My barber (ok, hairstylist) has been doing a great job of keeping it workable for me and keeping the sides short still.

Here is my hair brushed down in the front, to show the length. It doesn’t look that long, although this is the longest I think I have EVER let me hair grow.

See the pictures:

So I went through the day, no gel, wearing a hat. Been wearing a hat more while letting this mop grow.

Anastasia asked if she could play with my hair tonight. I told her sure. She got the brush and gel and went to work.

Here is the outcome:

So, as I sit, my hair looks like an Elvis, skater, faux mohawk, something. All cause Anastasia decided to have fun with my head tonight…  :D

I was in the Air Force for 9 years.  During my service my hair got shorter and shorter.  To this day I keep my hair very short.  I like it that way, I think.  Maybe I just got used to my hair being short and I don’t like hair on my head.  Who knows.

My daughter on the other hand has long hair.  Through her life she has wanted it short (shoulder length) and then has wanted to let it grow long.  The longest being down to her butt.

She has very thick hair, just like me.  So the longer it gets the harder her hair is to take care of.  She doesn’t like taking showers.  She likes being clean and she tells me how good she feels after her showers although getting her in there and getting her to take her time while in the shower is a never ending battle.

Today we are standing at the bus stop and I notice she looks like she has dandruff in her hair.  I look closer and I can tell it is either shampoo or conditioner drying up and flaking out.  I look closer and see that her hair was not washed very well and she definitely still has residue of shampoo or conditioner in there.

I tell her she did not wash her hair very well, she tells me her conditioner, you know the real expensive one that she HAD to have, is greasy and does not come out of her hair.  Keep in mind she has had this conditioner for about three weeks now and this is the very first time I have noticed her hair looking like this.

So I tell her that she rushed in the shower today and did not rinse out her hair very well.  She argues with me for a few seconds then admits she was trying to finish and get out of there.

This is a perfect example of why I am so happy to be around family now.  I can ask either my sisters or my mother to help my daughter learn how to wash and condition her hair correctly.
