A Single Daddy’s Blog

Single Parenting from a Father’s Perspective.

So maybe I am just strict, not sure.  I walk in to my daughters room today and wow.  I am not sure whether to run for cover and make sure she is ok or to ask her to grab the trash so we can just start throwing the mess in the trash.  I mean, seriously.  It was bad.

She decided to take every paper, every pillow, every stuffed animal, every possible thing and spread it meticulously across the floor to look exactly like she just threw everything around.

I asked to clean it, she did.  It was not a big deal.  The part I don’t understand though, is why I have to go through the “war zone room mess” every single day.

Is this normal?

So last night we had a very bad thunder and lightning storm.  I checked on my little one to make sure she was ok.  She was turned around in her bed and all the blankets, pillows and stuffed animals she sleeps with were on the floor.  She was sound a sleep though.  I felt good seeing her asleep because I know she gets very scared of the thunder sound.  I left her alone to sleep.

This morning when I woke her up and she told me how scared she was last night from the thunder and lightning.  Go figure…

My daughter forgot her library book today.  She decided to call me from school and let me know she forgot it last week and this week also.  I am on the phone with her searching her room and she is directing me to where she *thinks* it is.  Then she tells me to look in her closet.  I opened the door and a bunch of things fell, she has clothes, papers, toys and stuffed animals thrown in there.  No wonder her room looked so clean yesterday.  Guess I need to start checking the closet.

Any way, back to the book.  I didn’t find it.  She told me she would look for it when she gets home.  Umm, YEAH.  And clean out your closet, room and put all this stuff that fell out away.  I didn’t tell her that though, I could tell she was already upset she couldn’t find her book.  I didn’t want her day starting out thinking I was mad at her too.

Oh well, I know what chores she will have when she gets home!
